Sahjanand Vihar is a refreshing celebration of Nature-Inspired Luxury. Located in one of Surat’s established residential neighborhoods, this project was designed to bring the serenity of the outdoors into an urban interior. The design narrative is defined by “The Breathable Home”—a space that uses botanical motifs, soft light, and natural wood to create a living environment that promotes well-being and tranquility.
The focal point of the residence is the expansive living area, which features a hand-painted botanical mural depicting tropical flora and hummingbirds. This “Living Wall” serves as a lush backdrop for a contemporary grey seating arrangement, accented with vibrant mustard yellow and emerald green cushions. The project successfully blends traditional Gujarati lifestyle elements—such as the custom-crafted wooden swing—with sleek, international design standards.
The most significant challenge for Sahjanand Vihar was “Visual Balance.” When using bold, busy patterns like tropical murals and hummingbirds, there is a high risk of the space feeling cluttered or overwhelming.
Our task was to “quiet the noise” by surrounding these vibrant features with neutral grey upholstery, white-tiled floors, and clean-lined wooden rafters.
The design narrative for Sahjanand Vihar is centered on the concept of “Biophilic Modernism,” where the primary goal was to dissolve the boundaries between the built environment and the natural world. We moved away from the clinical feel of traditional modernism to embrace a palette rooted in the “Forest Floor”—combining deep emerald greens, mustard yellows, and rich oak textures.
