Somnath Highway is a definitive example of Modern Multi-Level Architecture, designed to command a sophisticated and rhythmic presence along the Khadsad corridor. The design narrative is built around “Vertical Modularization,” where the building’s identity is defined by repetitive vertical columns that break the facade into organized, human-scaled segments. By utilizing a high-contrast palette of cool slate-grey frames, warm timber-finish ceilings, and crisp white surfaces, the exterior creates a visual tempo that feels both monumentally stable and exceptionally airy.
The core philosophy of this project was to explore “Structured Transparency.” We moved away from a singular, flat elevation to incorporate a series of recessed balcony zones that act as individual outdoor sanctuaries for each floor. This approach not only enhances the building’s three-dimensional profile but also allows for natural cross-ventilation, ensuring the home feels open even in a prominent highway-side context. Every architectural line is intentional, with the vertical fins and cantilevered overhangs providing natural shading and a high-fidelity, custom-crafted finish.

The primary challenge for the Somnath Highway project was “Visual Cohesion in Verticality.” With a multi-level structure, there was a risk of the building appearing disjointed. Our task was to use Continuous Vertical Lines-specifically the grey structural finsβto “stitch” the floors together into a single, cohesive unit. We had to ensure the material transitions were perfectly seamless across all levels to maintain a unified identity. Additionally, managing the street-side privacy while maintaining an open feel required careful calculation of the balcony depths and the angle of the vertical slats.
The design narrative for the Somnath Highway project is centered on “Vertical Fragmentation and Material Contrast.” Our approach focused on a “Towering” strategy, where the primary facade is divided into distinct vertical bays. We utilized a “Subtractive Geometry” technique, carving out deep voids for the balconies to ensure the building feels spatially dynamic and light despite its vertical mass.
