Aashirvad is a masterclass in Modern Earthy Minimalism, designed to serve as a quiet, sophisticated retreat within the high-growth residential landscape of Pasodra, Surat. The project transcends standard interior design by focusing on the psychology of space—creating a home that feels expansive and breathable despite the constraints of a typical urban residential footprint.
The design language is rooted in a monochromatic architectural approach, where every surface is treated as part of a larger, cohesive sculpture. By utilizing a “tone-on-tone” strategy—layering various shades of beige, cream, and taupe—the boundaries of the rooms visually recede, making the interiors feel significantly larger.
Key to this overview is the tactile experience of the home. We curated a palette of contrasting textures: the smoothness of high-gloss Italian-finish flooring, the vertical rhythm of fluted wall panels, and the organic warmth of natural wood veneers.
Designing with a neutral, monochromatic palette carries the risk of the space looking “flat” or “washed out” under standard lighting. We faced the challenge of creating a lighting scheme that could artificially create depth and highlight the different textures (like the fluted panels and stone backsplashes) during the evening, ensuring the home feels as dynamic at night as it does during the day.
Our approach centered on Texture and Tonality. Instead of bold colors, we used varied materials—such as fluted wall panels, matte laminates, and stone-finish tiles—to create visual interest.
The master suite features a signature textured accent wall paired with traditional circular art pieces, grounding the modern design in local cultural aesthetics. Every piece of furniture was custom-designed to fit the spatial constraints perfectly, ensuring a seamless flow between the living, dining, and private quarters.
